All Saints dates from before 1166. To quote from the
'Bedfordshire Village Book',
it ..."cannot claim to have much architectural distinction.
What it does have is evidence of the work of local craftsmen,
struggling over hard centuries, to keep their church intact.
The timbers of the king-post are rough hewn, the chancel arch
is slightly off-centre with respect to the roof ridge, the tympanum
over the south door has been reconstructed from two unmatching halves,
one of which must have been salvaged from the now missing north door,
the walls are a patchwork of stones, tiles and bricks.
But the view of Ravensden church, on top of its hill, must be one of the
most charming in the county."
